📅 How Do I Get More Shifts?
📅 How Do I Get More Shifts?
We know our nurses, carers, and support workers want consistent work — and we want that for you too!
Here’s how you can make sure you’re visible, compliant, and ready for more shifts through YNA.
✅ Keep Your Availability Updated
The most important step is keeping your availability current in the YNA App or Online Portal.
Tips:
Update your availability each week, even if nothing’s changed.
Mark yourself available on the days you can actually work.
Remove any days you’re not available so we can contact the right people faster.
💡 Pro tip: Shifts often fill within minutes — keeping your availability up to date ensures you don’t miss opportunities.
🧾 Stay Fully Compliant
YNA can only roster you if all your compliance documents are current.
Make sure you have:
A current AHPRA registration (if applicable)
An active WWCC / NDIS clearance
A valid police check, vaccinations, and other required certificates
⚠️ If anything expires, you may not be contacted for specific shifts.
📞 Communicate with the Allocations Team
Your Allocations Team manages shift bookings and scheduling.
If you’re looking for more shifts, let them know directly — they’ll prioritise staff who are actively available.
You can:
Call or message the team to update your preferences or availability
Let them know about changes to your schedule or upcoming leave
Offer to help with short-notice or weekend shifts
👋 Staff who stay in touch and are flexible with timing are more likely to be contacted for extra shifts.
💬 Be Reliable & Responsive
Reliability makes a big difference when you’re being considered for extra shifts.
Quick tips:
Reply quickly to messages when offered a shift.
Arrive on time and communicate if there’s ever an issue.
Keep a positive and professional attitude at all times.
⭐ Staff who build a reliable track record are the first to be called for future opportunities.
