🧠 Understanding Your Role – Community vs Facility Work

🏡 Community Work (Home & Community Care)

Working in the community means supporting clients in their own homes or local settings.
You’re helping them stay independent, comfortable, and connected.

💪 What You’ll Do:

Assist with daily living (personal care, meal prep, mobility)

Support medication reminders (depending on your role)

Help with social connection — companionship, community outings

Follow care plans tailored to each client’s goals and preferences

đź’ˇ Key Things to Remember:

You work one-on-one — strong communication and empathy are essential.

Each home is different — always respect client privacy and routines.

You’ll often travel between visits — plan your time carefully.

Documentation is critical! Update progress notes promptly after each visit.

🏠 Community work is personal, flexible, and deeply rewarding — you’re helping people live their best life at home.

🏥 Facility Work (Hospitals, etc.)

Facility shifts take place in structured care environments — such as hospitals, aged care homes, or respite centers.
You’ll work as part of a larger team alongside nurses, PCAs, and allied health staff.

💪 What You’ll Do:

Deliver clinical or personal care as directed by the facility

Follow facility routines and work under the direction of the Nurse-in-Charge

Record observations and notes according to site policy

Be adaptable — every facility has different systems and expectations

đź’ˇ Key Things to Remember:

You’re part of a big team, so communication and teamwork are key.

Always follow site policies, infection control, and reporting processes.

Arrive early, in full uniform, and ready for handover.

Treat each shift like it’s your own workplace — professionalism matters!

🏥 Facility work gives you variety, teamwork, and experience in structured environments.
